Portrait of Alex Carter

Alex Carter

Full-stack DeveloperAmsterdam, NL

I'm a full-stack developer with 8+ years of experience building web platforms, developer tools, and open-source libraries. I care about performance budgets, boring reliable architecture, and documentation people actually read.

Right now I lead a platform team at Nimbus Labs, and maintain a handful of open-source projects on the side. When I'm not shipping, I write about what I've learned on theblog.

How I think about engineering

I believe the best software is the software you can delete. Small, composable modules beat clever abstractions; boring technology beats novel technology until the problem demands otherwise.

Performance is a feature, accessibility is a requirement, and developer experience is how you scale a team. I default to open source — working in public keeps the quality bar honest.
